Sugar Cane Palm in a White Orcus Pot
Graceful green fronds, slender canes and rich reddish tones make this Sugar Cane Palm and pot combo a distinctive addition to a bright interior. Paired with the medium Orcus concrete planter, it brings height, colour and a relaxed tropical feel to living rooms, entrances and offices.
The palm’s red-to-burgundy colouring is especially noticeable around its younger stems and leaf bases. Against the Orcus pot’s matte white finish, these warm tones stand out beautifully beneath the feathery foliage. Colour naturally varies between plants and changes as the palm matures.
Native to Madagascar, Dypsis baronii has a naturally clumping growth habit. Its upright canes and arching fronds create a light, layered display, while the planter’s rounded shape adds a substantial base.

Caring for your Sugar Cane Palm

- Position: Keep away from cold draughts and direct heat from heaters.
- Maintenance: Remove fully brown fronds and gently clean dust from the foliage.
- Outdoor growing: The palm can also grow in a sheltered position with partial shade. Introduce it gradually to stronger sunlight.
Positioning your planter
The Orcus is a heavyweight concrete pot. Choose its position before adding the plant, and use suitable floor protection underneath to help prevent scratches. Check drainage before watering and empty any water that collects inside the planter.
Please note: Plant height, fullness and stem colouring vary naturally. The photograph shows the style of the combination; each plant has its own shape and character.
